New Blog
To my loyal followers, I have news: I created a new blog about our favorite show and won't be posting here anymore after the first week of the new season. I will post my commentary on the season premiere at both blogs. I think you will enjoy the look and features of the new blog and I hope to see you all there!
Please follow me over to Heart Of Storybrooke!
For the followers of Once Upon A Time in Cooky's World and new followers of Heart Of Storybrooke, thank you for sticking with me through the transition from the old blog to the new!
For my new followers, I usually post on Tuesdays or Wednesdays following the new episode. I will try to post sooner this year, but I like to view the episodes at least three times before I write about it, to be sure I didn't miss anything important. It's amazing what you miss the first time through! I just enjoy the episode for itself when it first airs and watch it again over the next few days to pick up information and clues.
Until the new season starts, I won't be posting much, but I want to get the transition under way.
Remember, the new season starts on Sunday, September 30 at the regular time of 8pm (7pm central time) on ABC.
On Sunday, September 30, we get a special treat to whet our appetites: A special retrospective airing prior to the season premiere, at 7pm (check local listings to be sure of the time in your area).
Hold your breath... Magic is coming!

Beware Flying Monkeys!
I just love the the teasers coming out this week... So much to look forward to and speculate upon. Where will OUAT go next? Perhaps not quite next, but somewhere in the future:

Those dratted flying monkeys!
And another article which sums up the spoilers revealed at Comic-con:

I love knowing a bit of what's to come but not so much as to spoil the surprise. Looking forward to a wonderful new season.

More news-Updated
A YouTube video of opening sequences of the show, some old, some new... Although I'm not sure the new ones are what will actually open the show, since they are not the dark shadow figures we are used to. Is this real or someone's idea of a joke?

Singlebrooke Dating
Well, today is the day for OUAT news!
This clip aired on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Xr4ZH5YXbg
It's cute and funny, features Sheriff Graham, which gives us all hope that we will see more of him this season, and it also ends on what I think is a very high note: A season opening date. "Awesome" is all I can say.
OK, I was mistaken. That's the DVD/Bluray release of Season 1. Grr... Season 2 is actually going to start in September (that's all imbd.com lists).

Oz, the Great and Powerful
I realize this has nothing to do with OUAT, but I saw this trailer today and thought it was worth posting.
http://disney.go.com/thewizard/
Already, I've seen people posting their views, some good, some bad, but I have to say, I think it looks awesome (I had to refrain from using the word, "wonderful"). Some are comparing it to the recent "Alice in Wonderland," but I don't think it looks at all like AiW. It has the feel of what movies used to be: Larger than life. I don't actually see many movies in the theater, but this is one I'd really like to see.
To me, it has the feeling of the "Harry Potter" films, where as soon as you hear those first few notes of music, it tingles your spine and you can't wait to see more. And hey, who doesn't like James Franco? The one issue I do have with it is the release date: March 3, 2013. Almost a year away! I think they may have released the trailer prematurely. I think they expect the public to anticipate the release of the film, but I think there's a good chance that people will tire of the waiting and become bored with it. Anticipation is good, but eight months is a long time to anticipate a film opening.
Anyhow, just thought I'd share with you.

We Have A Princess
I've been sort of out of the loop on the series since it's been on hiatus, so some of these stories may be old news to you, but it's all news to me.
It's just been announced that we will see Princess Aurora, aka Sleeping Beauty, this season on OUAT. She will be played by Sarah Bolger from "The Tudors."
http://tvline.com/2012/07/05/once-upon-a-time-casts-sarah-bolger-aurora/
Also, Meghan Ory is being promoted to series regular this season, so we may see much more of Red/Ruby.
http://tvline.com/2012/06/14/once-upon-a-time-meghan-ory-series-regular-season-2/
And Belle will be a series regular, as well. Of course we probably all suspected as much.
http://tvline.com/2012/06/19/once-upon-a-time-emilie-de-ravin-series-regular-season-2/
One of my favorites, our beloved Snow, will be reunited with the Charming family. Nice article about Ginnifer Goodwin's views and hopes for the Charmings.

You've probably already taken it, but OUAT on Facebook posted this quiz. If you take the quiz and don't get every one correct, you've probably never watched the show. Just way too easy.

Kristen Bauer Interview
Kristin Bauer interview at:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/12/once-upon-a-time-kristin-bauer-season-2_n_1588037.html
The author of this article STILL can't get it straight: This is at least the second time he's stated the purple mist restored the residents' memories, but WE TRUE FANS know that is wrong. I don't think he should write about shows that he has obviously not viewed. Shame on him!
And do YOU think it was mist? I think it was smoke, since it billowed and moved as smoke moves. Mist just sits there, don't you think?
Anyhow, thought you might like the short interview.
I hope you are all having a great summer!

Interview With The Evil Queen
I just read an article which contained an interview with Lana Parilla.
http://tvline.com/2012/05/30/once-upon-a-time-season-2-preview-lana-parrilla/
Though the author of the article isn't entirely accurate in his first paragraph. We all know it was Emma who broke the curse, not Rumpelstiltskin. Too bad he doesn't seem to have watched the show. *Sigh*

Full Circle
WOW! That was one of the absolute best season finales ever. While some things I had guessed, and some things I had hoped, did happen, I was surprised from practically the first moment until the last. I found it immensely satisfying that so many loose ends were neatly tied, and still we got a wonderful glimpse of what will come in the next season. (Metaphorically at least.)
The official chat asked, "Who benefits the most from magic coming to Storybrooke?" That is an interesting question. It's hard to say for certain, because we don't know what the Purple Smoke Curse will do. I think Regina will benefit from the return of magic, for sure, but she may not realize the damage she's caused herself by manipulating others. She was happy at the return of magic, but she may not be thinking about others having magic, and what they will do to her. Rumpelstiltskin will benefit, as he is the most powerful character of all, but if Emma is now aware of who she is, she may prove to be a very powerful person, and perhaps even more than any of them can fathom.
I was so happy to see Graham again, even if just for a moment. When he drew his bow, I knew it was him and what he was doing, even before we saw his face. I do hope we get to see more of him in future episodes, even if only in the past.
I think the one thing that made a bit less sense to me was at how quickly Emma realized the poisoned apple turnover was magic. But, given time constraints, I can see why. I probably shouldn't have been, but I was surprised at what happened when Emma picked up the book. After so much disbelief, she believed in an instant. I loved the look on her face when she heard Regina come into the hospital room. Pure unadulterated hatred. For a second, I wondered (not reallllly) if she was going to just kill Regina right then and there. Brilliant. I was surprised at how easily Regina admitted the truth of what she had done and who they all were. I was surprised at a lot of things in this episode.
It had been so long since I'd seen "Sleeping Beauty" that I'd forgotten Maleficent was a dragon. Surprise! I find it interesting how James was so brave and jumped on the dragon, basically got the job done without hesitation, and how Emma, with a little hesitation, jumped in and did what she needed to do. She is her father's daughter. I wonder how Rumpelstiltskin got James' sword. Last we saw of it was when ... wait. At Snow and James' wedding, he threw the sword at Regina, and it went with her when she transported back to her castle (it flew past her). Then when the curse was coming, he was fighting the Queen's guards and he had a sword. I know this is a technicality, but was this a different sword, and how did he get it back if not? Hmm... Is it silly to think the mirrored tree wall was a cool touch? Rumpelstiltskin told James, "I'm a fan of true love, and more importantly, what it creates." I still don't know if Rumpelstiltskin is a good guy or bad guy. What he does tends to lend itself to good, but he creates bad as well.
I was sad to see August completely transform into wood again, and I hope he can return to human form. I liked him a lot and hope it isn't the last we see of Pinocchio. I loved Emma's line, " I just talked to the Evil Queen and Rumpelstiltskin about a quest to save the kingdom." Gotta have a sense of humor.
I knew from the cast list that Jefferson would be back in this episode, but his part in the unraveling was totally unexpected. He knew the code to the basement door, so did he work at the hospital? How would he have known about Belle being down in the basement? I just thought of something. Was it Jefferson who switched the DNA and aquired the heart for Regina? So many questions. The "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" nod, while confusing as to why, is a fun touch. And we see where Sidney is being locked up. Poor Sidney, such a lost soul. When Belle walked into Mr. Gold's shop, and he saw her and squeezed her arm to be sure she was real, that was a sweet touch.
I knew that Emma would save Henry, whether it be from a sacrifice or a mother's kiss to her child, and I'm happy they didn't actually kill him off. I hoped both curses would be broken at the same time, but wasn't sure they would go that far. I loved when the Blue Fairy/Mother Superior told Regina, "If I were you, Your Majesty, I'd find a place to hide." Regina has hurt and used so many people, everyone will be after her now.
When Charming finds Snow in the coffin, we find ourselves right back where we started. We've gone full circle, and I find that oddly satisfying and kind of poetic. Even at the end when James came back to find Snow in Storybrooke, it was again their anthem, "You found me." And, "I will always find you." Aww. Sweet. And once again the clock ticks 8:15PM. And so it ends, right where it started.
What happens next? What does the Purple Smoke mean? Is Henry right, that it means something bad is coming? When it lifts, will they be in Storybrooke, or Fairy Tale, or some new land? Will Emma now have powers? I am so excited to find out once the new season starts. Can we survive the summer without our beloved "Once Upon A Time?"
So that is my final posting for the first season, and I'm not sure what will happen to the blog over the summer. I will try to write a note here and there, post when I find some new information or interviews, but I don't want to post just for the sake of posting. So, I'll see you all soon, and I hope you have a wonderful summer.
Hugs to all! And thanks for visiting me here.

The Poisoned Apple
I usually watch the episodes at least three or four times before writing the blog, but I'm kind of winging it today, no notes, just mostly thoughts and ideas blurted out.
The producers have stated that one of the major characters will die in the season finale, but I don't think it's going to be Henry. For one thing, the poisoned apple doesn't kill its victim, it just puts them into a deep sleep. We know that Snow White was awakened by her true love's kiss (from Charming), but since Henry is a child, he has to be awakened some other way. I think he may be saved not by true love's kiss, but by true love's sacrifice. The love of his mother. I don't know that Emma is much closer to believing the truth, but I think somehow she will sacrifice herself for Henry, and will break the poisoned apple curse. Will Emma survive? I'm not laying any bets either way. It's possible to wake Henry from his curse by Emma sacrificing herself, and also to break the Big curse that's keeping everyone in Storybrooke, sort of killing two birds with one stone. This show is just so enigmatic, it's hard to know anything for sure until we actually see it, and even then, things can change.
Someone on the Official Chat asked about Jefferson, and how he got back to Storybrooke after falling into his magic hat. They stated he was last seen in a room full of hats, so how did he get back to Storybrooke without his hat? My answer to this is:
He didn't fall into HIS hat necessarily. I think it was the one that Emma made (not sure on this though). In that last shot of him becoming mad/crazy, his hair was longer, so it was in the Fairy Tale past. And we don't know that he actually fell into the hat, we just assume he did. Someone could have saved him possibly or he fell into a bush or something. We didn't see him land.
After he was left by Regina in Wonderland, she took the hat, so she's always had it apparently.
Many of us still wonder what will happen when the curse is broken. Who will go back, who will stay in our world, etc. Mr. Gold was planning a trip out of Storybrooke, and I suspect he knows where Baelfire is, and he needs to go retrieve him before the curse is broken so he can bring Bae back to Fairy Tale with him. I don't see what other reason he would have to leave Storybrooke at this critical time. Does Mr. Gold know the end is coming?
Emma still owes Mr. Gold a favor (after she insisted Mr. Gold allow Ashley/Cinderella to keep her baby), and I wonder if repayment is coming soon.
Graham/Huntsman, Belle, and Maleficent will all be back in the finale, so that can open up many possibilities. One thing I am certain of: We will be left with a cliffhanger. We know they are planning a second season, and they want to make sure we all come back to see what happens.

Just A Note
I know I need to update the cast list. I will within the next couple of days.
Lying In Wait
I've seen people comment on the Official Chat that we didn't learn much from this week's episode, but I think we learned a good deal, and specifically things we need to know. So now we know that August is Pinocchio, and many of my suspicions were right, or darn close. I say that not to brag about my genius, because mostly I read others' ideas and expanded upon them, but just to say it's nice to know I'm on the right track once in a while. I'm usually the last to know, and this is a nice change for me. :)
We learned about Pinocchio and Emma's entry into our world, and how he lost his way. I can't say I blame him for leaving the house of those horrible people, even if he had to leave Emma behind. What would any seven-year-old have done?
I am most pleased at Mary Margaret and Henry standing up to Regina. They are those "YES!" moments we all love. Mary has come into her "Snow White-ness." I loved when Regina said, "Is that an accusation?" and Mary said, "Yes it is." (Or something very close to that. I didn't write it down.) I loved when Mary Margaret said, "I forgive you." To someone who's trying so hard to hate Mary, that is a really difficult thing to hear. But it shows us that Snow/Mary is the kind-hearted person we all love, and it helps to diminish Regina's power over her. Bravo, Mary Margaret! Then David refused her advances, which shows he's becoming much more the Charming we know from Fairy Tale. Those things are making her very angry, and add to it the fact that Emma has taken Henry, and she is going to blow her top.
I think Emma's fierce denial that it's her destiny to save Storybrooke, and her disbelief is a mask, and that she really is starting to believe it's all true. I think that may be a big reason she wants to leave town with Henry. Of course once Regina finds out Emma has taken him, Emma can as much as kiss Henry goodbye, since it amounts to kidnapping. She's just scared and what does Emma do when she's scared? Run away. I am not so sure Regina will find out, though. Henry may convince her to stay, and I do hope that he does.
August is truly his father's son, fixing the latch on Mary's door, helping to fix the clock. It was sweet when he finally went to Marco and asked to be his helper. Tears in my eyes on that one.
I wonder what will happen once the curse is broken. Will everyone go back to the same place and time in Fairy Tale? Or is it 28 years later? If it were right after the curse, then Emma would still be a baby, and no Henry would have been born. Will Emma, August and Baelfire go back to Fairy Tale? They came to Storybrooke by means other than the curse. So can they ever go back at all? And what if Emma goes back? What will become of Henry? Can he go, too? He's never been there. The Huntsman/Graham will be in the finale, which makes we wonder, if the curse is broken, will he live on in Fairy Tale, even beyond the curse? Jefferson will be in the next episode, so does that mean we will see into Wonderland? Or some other land? We don't know where he went when he fell into the hat. These are all things I think about.
I can't help but be a bit preoccupied with what will happen in the next two episodes. We are at the top of the roller coaster and we are going to drop fast. So far there is no information about the finale, so we'll have to just wait and see what happens. I avoid most sources of spoilers, since some are wrong and I don't see any reason to dread the death of a beloved character any longer than necessary (learned that lesson with Graham). Just hold on tight, scream if you need to, and enjoy the ride!

Thoughts Inspired By Others Ideas
Something that I probably subconsciously believed, but was made aware of the idea while responding to a posting on the Official Chat for the show: Pinocchio was made from a branch from a magical tree, the same tree that Geppetto carved into the cabinet for Snow to escape Fairy Tale, and in which Emma was sent into our world. So he was part of the tree to begin with and could be hidden within it without the tree realizing there was a second person in it.
Someone on the Official Chat suggested that the real Baelfire is Henry's father. I find that very interesting and entirely possible. Emma has stated that Henry's father was older than she is, and if Bae entered our world at roughly the same time as Emma, or even a few years before, Bae would be at least 14 years older than Emma. And because Mr. Gold knew that Bae was Henry's father, he brought Henry into Storybrooke, so he could keep watch over Henry. I think Regina once asked Mr. Gold where he found Henry (something like that), and I don't think he answered her. Remember, Regina doesn't know who Emma is, only that she's Henry's mother and that she's changing things. And while Mr. Gold hasn't found Bae, perhaps he believes Bae will come to find Henry. Food for thought.

Prodigal Son?
For a while it actually seemed as if August were Baelfire, but I think it's much more intriguing that he isn't. I couldn't help but notice that Baelfire has dark eyes while August has blue. I think August's question to Mr. Gold, "Do I even look like him?" was more rhetorical, meaning that he doesn't look like Bae. Many of us believe August is Pinocchio, which makes sense since he told Emma that he never lies. But he had to lie to Mr. Gold. I can't help but wonder about that. Obviously his nose didn't grow when he lied, but does having to lie contribute to his health problem? I believe the pain he's having in his legs is because he may be turning back into wood. I know that sounds really strange, but I think he is supposed to do something by a certain time or he will turn back into wood, and he's growing actual splinters in his legs. I wonder if he's supposed to find Emma and perhaps his true love. Maybe Emma and Pinocchio were destined to be together in Fairy Tale. Just a thought. And I stick by my theory that he was sneaked out of Fairy Tale in the wardrobe. Since the next episode is about Pinocchio, and entitled "The Stranger," I believe it even more so. The donkey paperweight is obviously in reference to Pinocchio being turned into a donkey.
We all wondered why Mr. Gold was digging in the woods so many episodes ago, and now we know. Perhaps Mr. Gold was afraid someone would find the dagger and use it. He said there was no magic in this world, but was he convinced of that? Someone on the official chat asked, "If there is no magic in this world, how did the Mad Hatter/Jefferson fall into the hat?" My answer is that Emma has magic, and it's possible that only she does and no one else. Remember the curse sent the characters into Storybrooke/our time, but Emma had already been sent forward, so maybe she was born with magic and having not been affected by the curse, she still has it.
In Mr. Gold's shop, I'm sure you all noticed the Mickey Mouse phone. Cute. I can't remember a specific story about musicians, but there was a wall of instruments in his shop, which seemed very specifically placed. Is this a nod to "Fantasia?" And maybe the sorcerer's hat I'd previously thought was Merlin's is actually Mickey's from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." Duh.
Obviously Sidney is covering for Regina, and maybe he did do it, but for her. Is he under her spell? We all know he murdered Snow's father, so we know he will do anything she asks, even kill. When I was watching the original airing of this episode, I missed that last two minutes and the preview of the next episode (our cable company chose that moment to run a storm warning), so I had to wait until I could watch it again to see the climax. Wow, did I miss a great scene! Emma finally found her voice and when I saw it, all I could think was, "Yay, Emma!" My heart was racing. This show is really getting exciting! :D

Stability And Surprise
Another wonderful episode. The story and suspense are building, and it makes me long for more. There are only four new episodes left in the season, so the roller coaster is almost to the top.
Mr. Gold came to Regina with the deal to frame Mary Margaret, but what Regina, and most others fail to realize, is that he is very literal, and semantics are everything to him. He honors his deals, but the deal may not be what you think it is. Mr. Gold is a great character, and I can't help but be drawn to him. No one knows for sure whether he's good or evil, but I don't see him as either, really. No matter his deal, he will get the better end of it. Details, details. I don't think for a minute though, that he is on Regina's side.
It was nice to see Regina as a girl, before she became angry and bitter, and more of Lana Parilla's niceness was evident. At first I thought they had altered her voice for the young Regina but, after research, I discovered she actually deepens her voice to play the Evil Queen. While not a proper riding jacket, I can't help but like her jacket. I'm not crazy into fashion, but I do love the costumes on the show, and how perfectly they help to define each character. (Former costumer in college stage productions, I can't help it.)
Remember last week when Henry was outside the sheriff's office, reading the book, and had a puzzled look on his face? I think most of us thought the picture he was looking at was of Alice, from Wonderland, but I wondered why her hair was so dark. On my third time watching this week's episode, when Snow was telling Cora about Regina loving someone else, I realized, young Snow was the girl in the picture in the book, not Alice. Go back and look again and you'll see what I mean.
It's sad that Regina became so much like her mother, the person she despised most (even though she probably loved her). There has been speculation as to whether having Daniel killed in front of her was the cause, or if some time after Daniel was killed that Regina killed her mother, and by taking the life of the hateful mother, she became what she killed. While I think this is a valid theory, I think Cora may still be alive somewhere in the world. I can't help but wonder if Cora is the Queen of Hearts. Perhaps one day we will find out.
We finally discovered why Regina hates Snow so much, and that Regina does know exactly who Mary is in Storybrooke. Whose identities does she know? We probably can assume she knows David's, and perhaps Sidney's, but who else? It's sad that she hates Snow for telling Cora the truth about Daniel, and that her anger is misplaced, and should be directed at her mother, not a child who was obviously manipulated. But that's how fairy tales are. There has to be a protagonist and an antagonist, or there wouldn't be a story. Regina, you should have known better than to tell your secret to a 10 year old (or 12, however old she is).
Emma should have known better than to trust Sidney, and many of us were frustrated by her lack of mistrust in someone who has been so obviously misleading her. As soon as Sidney showed up with the flowers, I knew it had a bug in it, but at least this time, Emma found it and now knows who not to trust.
As soon as District Attorney Spencer walked in, I just thought, "Oh no!" The person who hates Snow almost as much as Regina does.
For those of you who watched the preview, listed on another post earlier this week, I told you this was going to be a good episode. When Regina told Mary she knew Mary hadn't murdered anyone, I think it shocked all of us! I think the only bigger shock was when Kathryn turned up alive. Wow. Game changer.
I like that August was helping Emma. When they went to the bridge and he got the shin splint, I knew it was odd, but didn't get the meaning right away. For those who are readers of the official show chat or other blogs, as you know, there has been much speculation as to August's identity. We know he is special, and integral to the story, but who is he? The most common theories are: Baelfire (Rumpelstiltskin's son); Pinocchio; the writer of the book; or one of the Grimms (either one of the brothers or a descendant). There are other theories, and some are quite entertaining, but these are the most common.
At first, I had no clue who he was, but I soon began to wonder about him being the writer of the book, which we now know is true. But he also seems to be someone else. I wondered if he could be Baelfire, but I wasn't convinced. His age was wrong, although with Fairy Tale and magic, and fuzzy timeflow, I still considered it. A Grimm? I just didn't buy it. The original Grimms were hundreds of years ago, and a descendent didn't seem right to me.
I believe August is Pinocchio. I didn't come to this conclusion alone, though. I read what others on the official chat say and form my own conclusions from a combination of ideas. Shin splints, as in splinters, as in made of wood. And he never lies. As several others have stated, because Pinocchio was made of wood, he could have been hidden in the tree cabinet that brought baby Emma into our world. I find this intriguing. The boy who found Emma on the side of the road was seven years old, and Pinocchio, as we saw him in the first episodes, was around that age. Because he was from Fairy Tale, he could come into Storybrooke, just as Emma did. Of course, he would have been adopted or put into foster care, just as Emma was, and so his name would have been changed.
After seeing the preview for the next episode, I am even more certain of August's identity. He was apparently going after Mr. Gold, or Rumpelstiltskin, and there are very good and valid reasons why. Rumpelstiltskin gave to Jiminy the potion that turned Geppetto's parents into puppets (or are they marionettes?) And I wonder if they are going to make the fairy from Pinocchio the same fairy as Cinderella's fairy godmother, whom Rumpelstiltskin killed. Food for thought.
A nice bonus:
Here is a great hour-long interview with the cast and creators of the show from March 4, 2012. They give a few clues but nothing concrete, so don't worry about spoiling the surprise of the new episodes. http://www.imdb.com/video/hulu/vi4049445145/
No new episodes until April 22, so unless I have an epiphany, I may not post again until that one airs. Happy Easter!

Relations
I have a thought that I just can't get out of my head. And I realize we might find the answer in tonight's episode, so it's kind of pointless, but why not share it with you all anyway.
Is it possible that Regina and Snow are half-sisters? Hear me out. What if Regina's mother left her and married King Leopold (Snow's father)? I don't think that happened, because that's a weird area (to have married your sister's father), but the thought does nag at me. (Just FYI it's NOT incest, as they wouldn't have been related by blood.)
Anyway, we'll learn tonight why Regina hates Snow. I try not to watch too many previews, as I want to be surprised. I don't do a lot of research for the same reason: Once I read an article about the show and for several weeks knew that Graham's demise was coming, and I don't want to do that again. It was torture! But a few days ago I saw a preview clip, and Yikes! I was... "No, she didn't just say that!" It's a good one.
Be warned: If you want to be surprised, don't watch the clip.

Wonders
I liked this week's show, but it left as many questions as it answered. The nod to Jefferson Airplane was a nice touch. (Alerted to me by a viewer on the official chat. I would never have made the connection otherwise.) Jefferson as in Airplane, Grace as in Slick and "White Rabbit" being their hit song. Kudos. I also noticed a sidetrack. When Grace was having the tea party with Jefferson, she was playing with the white rabbit and a tortoise, as in the tortoise and the hare. Cute. In Storybrooke, Grace's name is Paige, but her last name is Grace.
Jefferson told Regina he had lost his wife to his work, and he's the "hatter," so that makes me wonder, was his wife Alice? Or someone else in another story? And why was Henry so puzzled when he was reading the book? Is it vastly different from the version we all know?
Emma, don't drink the tea! You should know not to take food from a stranger. (Shaking my head.)
Have you noticed, in many places in Storybrooke, the wallpaper is of trees/woods? Granny's Diner, Regina's office, and Jefferson's room where Mary was tied up. Even in Mary's classroom at school, there was a tree with leaves on the wall. Not that it means much, but just an observation. As for the wallpaper in most of Jefferson's house, they managed to incorporate hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades into the design. Gotta love the details.
I love that Jefferson remembers everything. I wonder, though, will Emma actually start to believe? She told Jefferson that if the book was real, Mary was her mother and she wanted to believe that, but I don't think she really believes it, not consciously, at least. I do think she is starting to, but isn't there yet.
If there are many worlds, I am curious, will each season of the show be in a new world?
Having Roger Daltrey as the Caterpillar was wasted on three tiny words, which were whispered and barely audible anyway. A fair amount of hype over three words. (Again, shaking my head.)
I have a question about the timeline in Fairy Tale. If Regina killed her father and cut out his heart in order to enact the curse, how could the Queen of Hearts find out and steal the heart, then Regina find out where it is, find Jefferson, steal the heart back... all before the curse was enacted? Because she had to have gone into Wonderland before the curse was enacted. Technical issue there. I realize time is sort of irrelevant in Fairy Tale, but I still don't see how all this happened in the time given. Unless a different curse had been placed on her father prior to Regina killing him. It's a bit confusing to say the least.
And how did the Queen of Hearts get possession of Regina's father or his heart? What connects them? Some speculate the Queen of Hearts is Regina's mother. I wonder if that is true. It sort of makes sense. After all, Regina collects hearts as well. We'll see.
Does the hat work? Did Jefferson fall into it? Maybe Emma really is powerful beyond what they know. On whose side is Mr. Gold really? I think he is playing Regina, and that him giving Mary the key was a test for Emma. How far will she go to save Mary/Snow? What is she willing to give up or risk for her?
Somewhere I read that the curse hasn't been broken by Mary and David's kiss because the curse was intended for someone else. Some have suggested that Regina has to find her true love in order to break the curse. Others suggest Mr. Gold must find Belle. But I believe it's Emma. And I don't think she must find her true romantic love, either. I think she must learn to love Mary/Snow and sacrifice for her, and that will end the curse.
And lastly, even though he wasn't in this episode, I seriously wonder if August is Baelfire. Some have suggested it, and I think they could be right. After all, the stories in Fairy Tale usually involve Rumpelstiltskin, and who would know better than his son? Just something to ponder.

Robin Hood?
Going back to the beginning of the series, people have had all sorts of ideas on who is each Storybrooke character's Fairy Tale counterpart. It's been fun to see who is right, who is wrong and some have definitely come out of left field. I love even the far out ideas. It shows people are really thinking about it, and who knows, sometimes the far-out ideas can turn out to be the correct ones.
From the first episode, I thought, and posted on the official website, that I believed Sheriff Graham was supposed to be the Sheriff of Nottingham. Many thought he was the Huntsman and many thought Robin Hood. Of course, for reasons known only to the writers, his character was changed to the Huntsman. Some have speculated that the reason for the change was because of legal rights. Even if some people involved in the show suggested that might be the case, it actually wasn't true. No one owns the rights to Robin Hood, as it is a folk tale. Robin Hood's story has been around for hundreds of years, well before the Grimms even. Just to clear up that misconception. (As I've done before.)
But who was his character supposed to be from the start? No one has officially stated, but I found on a blog recently, (blog) which gave a wonderful insight, and an annoying obvious-but-missed-by-most suggestion:
The Sheriff of NottinGHAM=Sheriff GraHAM.
OMG. How could I have missed that? It seems so obvious when you see the visual comparison. So, I stick by my original statement: Sheriff Graham was supposed to be the Sheriff of Nottingham (before they changed who he was.)

Recent Comments
Due to some recent comments, I seriously considered disallowing all anonymous comments, but I decided I won't, yet. I think some people with great ideas or thoughts might not want to post as themselves, and I do not want to stifle our discussion. But remember that this blog is made up of my thoughts and ideas, it's not a biography. I do try to be as accurate as possible, and if I have made an actual error, like stating Cora was Snow's mother, call me on it. I'll correct it. I started this blog because I love the show and I wanted it to be fun. So let's have some fun!

Quick Question
I am curious to know your feelings about this blog, specifically whether I should remove the list of characters/actors. The list gets longer each week, so should I keep it or should I toss it? Any other comments are also welcome. Thanks!

Heart of Darkness
Last week's and this week's episodes have been much more satisfying than in the previous weeks. It seems the remaining episodes for season one will be good ones. Jennifer Morrison gave an interview recently (see previous post), and what she said made a lot of sense and gave me comfort in knowing that Emma's seeming naivety is really that she is stuck without her usual resources, and is learning better how to deal with Regina (implied). Things are getting better, or at least much more exciting, and Ms. Morrison stated the show is like a roller coaster, it has slowly been climbing, and toward the end of the season, it will make it's way over the top and come speeding down the track to the season's conclusion.
I have to say, I liked Red using her wolf to keep the guards from James. Nice touch.
As I suspected, the box in which Kathryn's heart was found did belong to Mary Margaret, and apparently Regina (or Sidney?) stole it, and planted the knife in Mary's apartment. I think it took real courage for Henry to take the keys from Regina's office, and for the first time, it seems Emma might actually be starting to believe his story. At least a little bit. August is starting to show his true self, and led Henry back to the book, and the keys. I am liking August more as the season moves forward. I'm a woman, and I admit it, I think he's hot. I can't wait until we find out who he really is and why he's there. Other than being there for Emma, that is.
Both Rumpelstiltskin and Mr. Gold told Snow/Mary, "I'm invested in your future." I am guessing that has to do with Emma and her being "More powerful than you know." Those statements seem to have much more meaning than what is seen at first glance. Is Emma more than just the breaker of the curse?
David remembers part of the past, but sadly doesn't realize what it means, or that it was in another time and place. He has lost much of what made him great as James/Charming. How much damage will it do to Mary?
A technical issue that bothers me: If it was snowing and obviously cold, why was the Evil Queen traveling on horseback? Shouldn't she have been in a carriage? Unless the point of the matter was that she wanted to parade in front of everyone? Or that somehow Rumpelstiltskin got word to her that she should travel that way? Just a thought.
After James jumped in front of the arrow, Snow said, "No one has ever been willing to die for me before." To which James replied, "No one you can remember." So someone was willing to die for her in the past? I suspect her mother. And on the April 1 episode, Barbara Hershey makes a guest appearance as Cora, Snow's mother, so we should get to see this storyline soon.(My mistake. Too sleepy while writing.)
Who left the key to the jail for Mary? Henry seems an obvious choice, but how? Or was it Emma? She probably had more opportunity, and perhaps this gesture is part of what she meant when she asked Mary to trust her. Did Regina leave the key, knowing Mary would use it and "prove her guilt?" Or did Mr. Gold somehow do it? Will we find out? When she opened the cell door, I was almost yelling, "No, Mary, don't do it!" But she did escape, and that can't be good for her case.
I knew there was a reason for Rumpelstiltskin to need Snow's hair, and it now seems sort of obvious, but I didn't suspect that combining Snow's and James' hairs would result in a love potion. I like wonderful surprises like that.
I am very much looking forward to the upcoming episodes. The Mad Hatter should be fun, learning why the Evil Queen hates Snow should be enlightening, and seeingSnow's Regina's mother should be satisfying interesting. (My mistakes corrected. Oops.)

Interview
An interesting interview with Jennifer Morrison. Be warned, though, she does reveal a little bit about what is coming up on the show. Not too much, but it gives hope that things are going the way they should be in Storybrooke.

Dead And Alive
Something just occurred to me. In the cast listing for upcoming episodes, the actor who played the Evil Queen's father is listed as a character of Storybrooke. So that means even characters who are dead in Fairy Tale can still be alive in Storybrooke? Can David be himself and his twin, simultaneously? And that accounts for his blackout? Just a theory. Hmm... Or the curse is weakening, and he's going back to the way he entered Storybrooke? He had been stabbed by a sword as the curse was enacted, so if the curse is getting weaker, he could still be injured when he "arrives." Just something to think about.
A Wolf In Red's Clothing
So I was wrong: Dr. Whale isn't the wolf. Many of us thought he was, as he is always leering at Ruby. I still do wonder who his Fairy Tale character is, and my guess is that it's a pretty nasty character, unless he's sort of a red herring and totally not who we would ever believe him to be. But this isn't about the good doctor, or is it?
I believe the writers either change the original cast of characters, or make it up as they go along. Change? Yes. They have proven that they want to make sure we don't know what is going on. Yes, they wrote "Lost" and they want to make sure we don't forget that. They will do what they want, when they want, even if it makes absolutely no sense to the story.
Everyone loved Sheriff Graham (I still don't know if that's his first or last name, and as far as I know, no one ever called him anything other than Graham) so they couldn't have us loving a character, and since many of us guessed he was from Robin Hood (either the Sheriff of Nottingham or Robin Hood himself), the writers killed him off, took him out of the picture. I don't think that was the original intention of the show. Perhaps they killed him off so they could bring in August Booth, and we can't have two men fighting over Emma, can we?
Last week's fiasco of dwarfs hatching from eggs was, well, one of the most ridiculous premises they have created. I just can't get over the stupidity of it. And now, Red is the Wolf. I'm not going to berate them too much over this, since it wasn't too far of a stretch from the original tales, but I am not really happy with this scenario either.
I was sorry that Peter was sacrificed, he was cute and sweet and I admit I would like to have seen more of him, but sacrifices must be made, and why not the cute guy as opposed to the innocent girl, right? Woman power! :) Nice that his name was Peter, kill two birds with one stone, eh? Get it? Peter and the Wolf. Haha so funny, tough luck there, Peter.
So Granny's last name is Lucas, a reference to wolves, they are clever with the names. Although, unless Red's mother never married, Red's last name is not likely to be Lucas. And Granny called Ruby "Eliza." Did anyone else notice that? I've read in other forums that it could be a reference to Liza Minelli, and how drag queens often dress and perform as Minelli, and not Ruby's name, but who knows. I found it interesting that while Ruby always dresses provocatively, at the end of the episode, when she realized where she belonged, she was dressed more normally and had little makeup. I think she looks much better without the makeup, and I hope she keeps that look.
Ruby found the box which contained the heart. It looked like the same type of box in which Regina kept Graham's heart. Does the heart belong to Kathryn or someone else? I think that it's possible that the box was once owned by Snow White, or that she at one time held it or opened it (they lived in the same castle remember) or that it could have belonged to Snow's father. I have a technical question about fingerprints, though. If everyone was sent to Storybrooke, when did they submit their fingerprints? Regina controls everything, could she have changed the names on the fingerprint cards? Or at least changed the results? She's pretty computer savvy and changed the phone records, so why can't she have changed these as well?
I don't believe David or Mary Margaret hurt or killed anyone. I believe it's all Regina. Is David's amnesia a result of being a wolf as is being suggested by others, or a totally separate event? If Regina can cast spells, did she put a spell on David? I realize it's out there, but is it possible that area of the forest is on the edge of Fairy Tale, and David was sort of between Storybrooke and Fairy Tale, in limbo? Just a thought.

The Stench Of Rotten Eggs
I have to confess, I'm having a hard time writing this week's blog. Usually, I have so many thoughts and theories that it's hard to wrangle them into a cohesive statement, but that's not the case this time. I am overwhelmed with the feeling that the writers of the show think we, the viewers, are stupid and gullable.
I love the show, haven't missed an episode, even created this blog to honor the show and spread the word about the show. When the writers led us in strange directions, such as the story that James/Charming isn't really a prince by birth (when there wasn't an apparent reason for it, other than showing he's humble?), I figured they had a plan and I trusted that they knew what they were doing and that eventually it would all make sense.
This week, the writers showed us that dwarfs (the correct plural of dwarf is dwarfs, not dwarves, by the way) are hatched from eggs, and that they are not really human and are not capable of human emotions such as love. This is where I am having trouble because I have so many thoughts and feelings about this disgusting episode. I realize the show comes from the creators/writers of "Lost" but this isn't "Lost," and I think perhaps the writers of this episode should actually get lost.
I can't get past the idea of dwarfs hatching from eggs, full-grown men (no females), with beards and intellect, speaking as if they were actual adults... Quite frankly, it's just bizarre and it shows the writers believe us to be stupid. It has nothing to do with real fairy tales, and I am angry that they imply that dwarfs or little people are less than human. I am livid about this. And there is absolutely no reason for it. If you are disgusted by this, you should write to the show and let them know how you feel about it.
Part of me is so disgusted that I want to stop watching the show, but I do still love the characters and stories, so I'm torn, what do I do? Keep watching or give up my favorite show? I suppose I'll keep watching for now, but I'm just so disappointed.
Please, writers, don't do this to your loyal following.
As to the rest of the show: Does Emma really trust Sidney to give her the phone records, or did she also get the real records on her own? I think she believes David and knows he didn't do anything to Kathryn, even if she doesn't quite know what did happen to her. I think this because of the way she spoke to Regina about the leads in the case. It's hard to believe that Emma trusts anything that Sidney or Regina says or does. Did she take in David in order to show Regina that she's doing something in the case even if she knows he didn't do it?
One of the chat postings this week suggested that the tall thin man with the carrot was Bugs Bunny, which is certainly creative, but I am sure the thin man is Jack Sprat, and not a cartoon character sent into Storybrooke. After this week's far-fetched episode, I think anything is possible, even if it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Next week's episode will be about Red Riding Hood/Ruby. I think this could be a good one and am looking forward to it. I still maintain (since "Snow Falls") that Dr. Whale is either the wolf or some other letcherous character, and perhaps we will find out who his Fairy Tale character really is, as he is included in the cast list for the week.

Frederick
Just when things start getting more interesting, there won't be another
episode until March. After this
episode, I like Abigail a lot more. It turns out she isn't the spoiled
rich girl I once thought, but rather someone who's lost her true love. I
am pleased that she got her happiness and revived Frederick. I have to
say, though, I don't think Anastasia Griffith is the best actress for this
role. I don't think she's a very good actress and sometimes I wonder if
her mind is elsewhere, or if she's on some sort of medication. For the
most part, she shows absolutely no emotion or feeling or perhaps she's just had
a little too much Botox.
Did you notice Kathryn ran into Frederick/gym teacher in the school when she went to confront Mary Margaret? I thought he looked like a student (he looks very young), but the way she bumped into him, I was sure he would be important to the show at some point.
The official OUAT chat posed the question: "What happened to Kathryn?"
Of course she didn't leave Storybrooke, since no one can leave, but who took her? I'd bet that Regina had something to do with her disappearance. Was Kathryn taken to the hospital basement where Belle is being kept? I believe she may be, or the writers want us to believe she is, and showing us Belle in captivity was intended to lead us in that direction. My question is, why did Frederick just happen to be on the road at that time of day? If people can't leave, where was he going? Or did someone send him down that road? Someone like Regina?
So the dozens of keys Regina keeps go to people's houses? That's frightening. What has she taken or placed inside the resident's homes?
The Stranger has officially been identified as August W. Booth (as I previously posted), and he is indeed the writer of the book. I am so curious to learn what he changed in the book. Did he repair the damaged pages that were removed so Regina wouldn't see them? Did he add new stories? Or did he alter some of the stories that we've already seen? I think that is very likely. And I can't help but wonder if the writers of the show brought him in to change the storyline. Did they not like the path of a story, or did audience reaction cause them to rethink a storyline? It will be interesting to find out. I find him intriguing, very pleasing to watch, and I wonder if he is a good guy or a bad guy.
For the upcoming episode, "Dreamy," we find out that there may be several dwarfs we didn't know about. Apparently, Grumpy used to be called Dreamy, and I am guessing he became Grumpy when he lost his love. Some new Dwarfs: Bossy, Watchy, and the return of Stealthy (before his demise).
And there is listed a Skinny Man and a Rotund Woman. Is this Jack Sprat and his wife?
General Observations:
No doubt King Midas received his gift from Rumpelstiltskin. But I wonder what King Midas gave to Rumpelstiltskin in return.
Is David/Charming a liar at heart? I realize he was forced into the lie that he is the real prince, but David just can't seem to tell the truth and seems like, well, kind of a jerk. He's strung along Mary Margaret and basically cheated on Kathryn. Is Charming a bad guy?

Is David/Charming a liar at heart? I realize he was forced into the lie that he is the real prince, but David just can't seem to tell the truth and seems like, well, kind of a jerk. He's strung along Mary Margaret and basically cheated on Kathryn. Is Charming a bad guy?
In Rumpelstiltskin's house, there was a wizard's hat, perhaps soon we will see Merlin? And there was at least one gold crown in his trophy case. In Mr. Gold's house, there was a wooden horse, and I wonder who it belonged to, which story is connected to it? There was also a golden chalise, which seemed very obvious, as he removed it to place Belle's chipped cup in its place.

Into The Mirror
I've been thinking about this past week's episode, and while we learned a great deal, I still have some questions and insights. If Regina didn't know who Mr. Gold really is, how did she know what prized possession to take that would disturb him most? And does she know who Belle is, or is she being held captive for some other reason? When Mr. Gold revealed his true identity, Regina looked frightened, and as if she hadn't known the truth. So if she hadn't known the truth, how does she know to keep Belle?
Belle thought Rumpelstiltskin covered the mirrors because he didn't want to look at himself, but he covered them because the Magic Mirror can see into other people's mirrors. We have seen this before without perhaps realizing it. That is how the Evil Queen knows everything: Magic Mirror can see into other mirrors, and he reports it back to the Queen. And if we know Regina the Evil Queen can see into other's mirrors, can Regina the Mayor? Or did she lose the ability when Sydney was cast into Storybrooke? As Mary Margaret said, she's the mayor, and she knows everything. Do mirrors still give her this ability? Just something to ponder.
And I noticed whenever Mr. Gold says, "Please" to Regina, she sort of stops in her tracks, as if under a spell. Is the magic word truly a magic word?

Revelations
Last night's episode was full of information. We now know for sure that Regina is the Evil Queen in both Storybrooke and Fairy Tale, and that she knows exactly who she is. But I don't think she knows who anyone else is. And Rumpelstiltskin has known all along who everyone is. I have felt all along that he likes living in Storybrooke more than in Fairy Tale, and isn't in a huge hurry to get back to his real life. He still has the power he always had and in Storybrooke he is the man in charge, despite what Regina would have the citizens believe. I believe Mr. Gold is more likely to try to take down Regina, since she knows, not only who he is now, but that she orchestrated the theft of his most prized possession, the chipped cup.
The official chat asked: "Will Rumplestiltskin ever find true love?"
I think he will, but there is the issue, if he does find true love, the spell over him will be broken and he will lose his powers. So even if he finds Belle, his choice isn't so easy. After all, all magic comes with a price and the price of true love might just be his magic. A viewer on the official chat said he will find Belle and true love only once Regina has been stripped of her powers or vanquished. I think that is a very reasonable assumption. And just for the record, I never believed he was evil. Most characters, at heart, are not who they appear to be.
The curse is weakening. We saw Sean propose to Ashley, they are finding their happy ending in Storybrooke, and we already know Mary Margaret and David are on their way to happiness.
Oh, and Regina mentioned to Rumpelstiltskin something about a mermaid. So will we be seeing Ariel soon? Looks like.

Missing The Obvious
I can't believe I didn't realize it sooner, and I do feel kind of dumb about this, but imdb.com lists Sneezy as having been in five episodes. On last night's episode, "Skin Deep," the clerk in the store/market sneezed, as he usually does, and it dawned on me, he's Sneezy. So obvious, yet it slipped by me up until now. I watched "True North" several times, as I always watch the episodes multiple times, and the clerk was sneezing as he was grabbing Henry and Hansel and Gretel's counterparts. Duh.

Corrections
Some people have said that the Grimm Brothers wrote the fairy tales, and this is not actually true. They collected the tales and re-wrote them in their own style, but they didn't write them. Most were around many years (even hundreds of years) before the Brothers were born.
One person has posted several times on the show's website that Sheriff Graham was supposed to be Robin Hood, but that the producers could not obtain the rights to Robin Hood. This is false information. There are no "rights" to be owned. The tale of Robin Hood is a folk tale, hundreds of years old and no one knows for sure whether there was such a person or who he was. It's possible the writers/producers initially wanted Graham to be Robin Hood then changed their minds, perhaps to bring in Robin Hood later or they didn't like the way the character was fitting into the story.

Random Thoughts
Some things that I have been thinking about the show:
If Emma can tell when people are lying, how does she fall for Sydney and Regina's antics? Does she really fall for it? Or is she getting their guards down? When she broke into Regina's office, she seemed to me to be acting a bit too casual and she wouldn't have been so ... willing to break in, if she weren't pretending.
I was watching last week's episode, and realized that the Evil Queen's name in Fairy Tale is also Regina. The king introduced her to the Genie/Magic Mirror/Sydney and called her by her name. So I think this is telling us all we are correct and that Regina is the Evil Queen in both Fairy Tale and Storybrooke, and she does know all and holds everyone under her spell.
Is Sydney/Genie the genie from Alladdin?
According to imdb.com (Eion Bailey's page), the Stranger has a name: August W. Booth. Whether that is his Storybrooke name or his Fairy Tale name, I don't know, but I'm guessing Storybrooke since we don't yet know if he has been to Fairy Tale. Some viewers think his name is a reference to John Wilkes Booth, but I think that is a stretch. Some speculate that the "W" might stand for Wilhelm, and that the Stranger is named after one of the Grimm brothers, and is a decendent of one of the Grimms. I think that is more likely than the John Wilkes Booth theory, since after all, what would J. W. Booth have to do with fairy tales? In any case, we may have to wait a week to find out (as of this writing).

Once Upon A Time
If you are reading this, you are probably a big fan of the show, "Once Upon A Time." Many of us are almost obsessed with it and at the end of each episode we are on the edges of our seats and can't wait another week until the next chapter. On the official chat feed, I've read some really interesting theories and ideas. There have been some really whacked out ideas as well, and a lot of junk, including multiple posts, and the dozen or so people who always seem to ask, "When is the next episode?" or "Why isn't the show on tonight?" So to avoid all the junk, I decided to create my own page with my own ideas and I hope that the hard-core OUAT posters will find my page and we can have a lot of fun and interaction. Let's watch some OUAT and have some fun!
Oh, and this blog is a work in progress, so bear with me. If you have info or ideas, please let me know. Thanks for coming and welcome to my blog!
The question posted on the official site last week was: "What will be Regina's next move against Emma?"
I think that's a good starting point. I posted this as my answer: "There a lot of possibilities as to what Regina will do next. Probably something none of us can imagine. Although Sydney did record her having a drink, and could allege that Emma is an alcoholic. Or, as another viewer (obsessedwithOUAT) said, she might expose Emma's lie about Henry's father.
I am wondering whether Emma realizes her mistake in trusting Sydney. She supposedly can tell when people are lying, so did she believe Sydney was really helping her, or did she know all along that he was working for Regina and is letting them think they fooled her so they will let down their guard?
Did anyone else notice the look on the Stranger's face as he pulled the book from the locked box? He knows what it is, or at least that it is important. He took it, so he's seen Henry put it in the hiding place. He didn't accidentally find it. He went looking for it. Is he the writer? I'm not sure if it was something he said or just a feeling from what he didn't say, that the story can be re-written.
I also think Mr. Gold will help to make Emma's life horrible until she agrees to form an alliance with him."
