Frederick

Just when things start getting more interesting,  there won't be another episode until March.  After this episode, I like Abigail a lot more.  It turns out she isn't the spoiled rich girl I once thought, but rather someone who's lost her true love.  I am pleased that she got her happiness and revived Frederick.  I have to say, though, I don't think Anastasia Griffith is the best actress for this role.  I don't think she's a very good actress and sometimes I wonder if her mind is elsewhere, or if she's on some sort of medication.  For the most part, she shows absolutely no emotion or feeling or perhaps she's just had a little too much Botox.

Did you notice Kathryn ran into Frederick/gym teacher in the school when she went to confront Mary Margaret?  I thought he looked like a student (he looks very young), but the way she bumped into him, I was sure he would be important to the show at some point.

The official OUAT chat posed the question:  "What happened to Kathryn?"
Of course she didn't leave Storybrooke, since no one can leave, but who took her?  I'd bet that Regina had something to do with her disappearance.  Was Kathryn taken to the hospital basement where Belle is being kept?  I believe she may be, or the writers want us to believe she is, and showing us Belle in captivity was intended to lead us in that direction.  My question is, why did Frederick just happen to be on the road at that time of day?  If people can't leave, where was he going?  Or did someone send him down that road?  Someone like Regina?

So the dozens of keys Regina keeps go to people's houses?  That's frightening.  What has she taken or placed inside the resident's homes?

The Stranger has officially been identified as August W. Booth (as I previously posted), and he is indeed the writer of the book.  I am so curious to learn what he changed in the book.  Did he repair the damaged pages that were removed so Regina wouldn't see them?  Did he add new stories?  Or did he alter some of the stories that we've already seen?  I think that is very likely.  And I can't help but wonder if the writers of the show brought him in to change the storyline.  Did they not like the path of a story, or did audience reaction cause them to rethink a storyline?  It will be interesting to find out.  I find him intriguing, very pleasing to watch, and I wonder if he is a good guy or a bad guy.

For the upcoming episode, "Dreamy," we find out that there may be several dwarfs we didn't know about.  Apparently, Grumpy used to be called Dreamy, and I am guessing he became Grumpy when he lost his love.  Some new Dwarfs:  Bossy, Watchy, and the return of Stealthy (before his demise).

And there is listed a Skinny Man and a Rotund Woman.  Is this Jack Sprat and his wife?

General Observations:

No doubt King Midas received his gift from Rumpelstiltskin.  But I wonder what King Midas gave to Rumpelstiltskin in return.

Is David/Charming a liar at heart?  I realize he was forced into the lie that he is the real prince, but David just can't seem to tell the truth and seems like, well, kind of a jerk.  He's strung along Mary Margaret and basically cheated on Kathryn.  Is Charming a bad guy?

In Rumpelstiltskin's house, there was a wizard's hat, perhaps soon we will see Merlin?  And there was at least one gold crown in his trophy case.  In Mr. Gold's house, there was a wooden horse, and I wonder who it belonged to, which story is connected to it?  There was also a golden chalise, which seemed very obvious, as he removed it to place Belle's chipped cup in its place.

Into The Mirror

I've been thinking about this past week's episode, and while we learned a great deal, I still have some questions and insights. If Regina didn't know who Mr. Gold really is, how did she know what prized possession to take that would disturb him most? And does she know who Belle is, or is she being held captive for some other reason? When Mr. Gold revealed his true identity, Regina looked frightened, and as if she hadn't known the truth. So if she hadn't known the truth, how does she know to keep Belle?

Belle thought Rumpelstiltskin covered the mirrors because he didn't want to look at himself, but he covered them because the Magic Mirror can see into other people's mirrors. We have seen this before without perhaps realizing it. That is how the Evil Queen knows everything: Magic Mirror can see into other mirrors, and he reports it back to the Queen. And if we know Regina the Evil Queen can see into other's mirrors, can Regina the Mayor? Or did she lose the ability when Sydney was cast into Storybrooke? As Mary Margaret said, she's the mayor, and she knows everything. Do mirrors still give her this ability? Just something to ponder.

And I noticed whenever Mr. Gold says, "Please" to Regina, she sort of stops in her tracks, as if under a spell. Is the magic word truly a magic word?

Revelations

Last night's episode was full of information. We now know for sure that Regina is the Evil Queen in both Storybrooke and Fairy Tale, and that she knows exactly who she is. But I don't think she knows who anyone else is. And Rumpelstiltskin has known all along who everyone is. I have felt all along that he likes living in Storybrooke more than in Fairy Tale, and isn't in a huge hurry to get back to his real life. He still has the power he always had and in Storybrooke he is the man in charge, despite what Regina would have the citizens believe. I believe Mr. Gold is more likely to try to take down Regina, since she knows, not only who he is now, but that she orchestrated the theft of his most prized possession, the chipped cup.

The official chat asked:  "Will Rumplestiltskin ever find true love?"
I think he will, but there is the issue, if he does find true love, the spell over him will be broken and he will lose his powers. So even if he finds Belle, his choice isn't so easy. After all, all magic comes with a price and the price of true love might just be his magic. A viewer on the official chat said he will find Belle and true love only once Regina has been stripped of her powers or vanquished. I think that is a very reasonable assumption. And just for the record, I never believed he was evil. Most characters, at heart, are not who they appear to be.

The curse is weakening. We saw Sean propose to Ashley, they are finding their happy ending in Storybrooke, and we already know Mary Margaret and David are on their way to happiness.

Oh, and Regina mentioned to Rumpelstiltskin something about a mermaid. So will we be seeing Ariel soon? Looks like.

Missing The Obvious

I can't believe I didn't realize it sooner, and I do feel kind of dumb about this, but imdb.com lists Sneezy as having been in five episodes. On last night's episode, "Skin Deep," the clerk in the store/market sneezed, as he usually does, and it dawned on me, he's Sneezy. So obvious, yet it slipped by me up until now. I watched "True North" several times, as I always watch the episodes multiple times, and the clerk was sneezing as he was grabbing Henry and Hansel and Gretel's counterparts. Duh.

Corrections

Some people have said that the Grimm Brothers wrote the fairy tales, and this is not actually true. They collected the tales and re-wrote them in their own style, but they didn't write them. Most were around many years (even hundreds of years) before the Brothers were born.

One person has posted several times on the show's website that Sheriff Graham was supposed to be Robin Hood, but that the producers could not obtain the rights to Robin Hood. This is false information. There are no "rights" to be owned. The tale of Robin Hood is a folk tale, hundreds of years old and no one knows for sure whether there was such a person or who he was. It's possible the writers/producers initially wanted Graham to be Robin Hood then changed their minds, perhaps to bring in Robin Hood later or they didn't like the way the character was fitting into the story.

Random Thoughts

Some things that I have been thinking about the show:

If Emma can tell when people are lying, how does she fall for Sydney and Regina's antics? Does she really fall for it? Or is she getting their guards down? When she broke into Regina's office, she seemed to me to be acting a bit too casual and she wouldn't have been so ... willing to break in, if she weren't pretending.

I was watching last week's episode, and realized that the Evil Queen's name in Fairy Tale is also Regina. The king introduced her to the Genie/Magic Mirror/Sydney and called her by her name. So I think this is telling us all we are correct and that Regina is the Evil Queen in both Fairy Tale and Storybrooke, and she does know all and holds everyone under her spell.

Is Sydney/Genie the genie from Alladdin?

According to imdb.com (Eion Bailey's page), the Stranger has a name: August W. Booth. Whether that is his Storybrooke name or his Fairy Tale name, I don't know, but I'm guessing Storybrooke since we don't yet know if he has been to Fairy Tale. Some viewers think his name is a reference to John Wilkes Booth, but I think that is a stretch. Some speculate that the "W" might stand for Wilhelm, and that the Stranger is named after one of the Grimm brothers, and is a decendent of one of the Grimms. I think that is more likely than the John Wilkes Booth theory, since after all, what would J. W. Booth have to do with fairy tales? In any case, we may have to wait a week to find out (as of this writing).

Once Upon A Time

If you are reading this, you are probably a big fan of the show, "Once Upon A Time."  Many of us are almost obsessed with it and at the end of each episode we are on the edges of our seats and can't wait another week until the next chapter.  On the official chat feed, I've read some really interesting theories and ideas.  There have been some really whacked out ideas as well, and a lot of junk, including multiple posts, and the dozen or so people who always seem to ask, "When is the next episode?" or "Why isn't the show on tonight?"  So to avoid all the junk, I decided to create my own page with my own ideas and I hope that the hard-core OUAT posters will find my page and we can have a lot of fun and interaction.  Let's watch some OUAT and have some fun!

Oh, and this blog is a work in progress, so bear with me.  If you have info or ideas, please let me know.  Thanks for coming and welcome to my blog!

The question posted on the official site last week was:  "What will be Regina's next move against Emma?"

I think that's a good starting point.  I posted this as my answer:  "There a lot of possibilities as to what Regina will do next. Probably something none of us can imagine. Although Sydney did record her having a drink, and could allege that Emma is an alcoholic. Or, as another viewer (obsessedwithOUAT) said, she might expose Emma's lie about Henry's father.

I am wondering whether Emma realizes her mistake in trusting Sydney. She supposedly can tell when people are lying, so did she believe Sydney was really helping her, or did she know all along that he was working for Regina and is letting them think they fooled her so they will let down their guard?

Did anyone else notice the look on the Stranger's face as he pulled the book from the locked box? He knows what it is, or at least that it is important. He took it, so he's seen Henry put it in the hiding place. He didn't accidentally find it. He went looking for it. Is he the writer? I'm not sure if it was something he said or just a feeling from what he didn't say, that the story can be re-written.

I also think Mr. Gold will help to make Emma's life horrible until she agrees to form an alliance with him."

What do you think?
