Into The Mirror

I've been thinking about this past week's episode, and while we learned a great deal, I still have some questions and insights. If Regina didn't know who Mr. Gold really is, how did she know what prized possession to take that would disturb him most? And does she know who Belle is, or is she being held captive for some other reason? When Mr. Gold revealed his true identity, Regina looked frightened, and as if she hadn't known the truth. So if she hadn't known the truth, how does she know to keep Belle?

Belle thought Rumpelstiltskin covered the mirrors because he didn't want to look at himself, but he covered them because the Magic Mirror can see into other people's mirrors. We have seen this before without perhaps realizing it. That is how the Evil Queen knows everything: Magic Mirror can see into other mirrors, and he reports it back to the Queen. And if we know Regina the Evil Queen can see into other's mirrors, can Regina the Mayor? Or did she lose the ability when Sydney was cast into Storybrooke? As Mary Margaret said, she's the mayor, and she knows everything. Do mirrors still give her this ability? Just something to ponder.

And I noticed whenever Mr. Gold says, "Please" to Regina, she sort of stops in her tracks, as if under a spell. Is the magic word truly a magic word?

  1. Regina knew who Mr Gold was, she suspected that he still knew he was Rumplestiltskin and she was upset when he confirmed this because none of them should remember who they are. The fact that he knows is worrying. Regina should be the only one who remembers their past lives.

    1. Yes. I believe that Regina killed Sheriff Graham not only because he rejected her, but because he was starting to remember who he was. People may not like Mr. Gold, but he (along with Emma) is the only one more powerful that Regina. He is the good guy gone bad, but still with a good heart at his core. The only reason he called upon the dark lord was to protect his son. So in my mind he will deff help Emma break the curse. I'm so curious to see what his favor from Emma will be. I hope its to free Belle. But since he will lose his power if he falls in love... maybe he will wait until the evil queens curse is broken.

    2. I think that's a good possibility. While Mr. gold wants to vanquish Regina, I'm not sure on which side of the fence he lays as to breaking the curse. In Fairy Tale, he was a monster and had lost his love, and in Storybrooke he is normal and has everything he could ever want, except for Belle. He seems to like living in Storybrooke more than in Fairy Tale. So I don't know if his goal is to get rid of Regina or to break the curse. Only time will tell on that one.

  2. While Regina might be troubled to know that Mr. Gold remembers his past, she should have realized Rumpelstiltskin would be immune to the curse, since he created it.

  3. I believe the "please" thing was addressed in one of the very early episodes when EQ asked Rumpelstiltskin for something--he said something about that she would not be able to deny him if he said please, or something along those lines.

  4. Exactly, Erin. When Regina/Evil Queen came to him and asked for the spell to cast, his "payment" was that in the real world (Storybrooke), Regina would have to do whatever he said/asked, as long as he said "please."

I welcome your comments. What do you think will happen next in the worlds of Storybrooke and Fairy Tale?
